The challenge

Books that are 60 days behind aren’t books — they’re archaeology.

For most growing companies, the founder or office manager doubles as the bookkeeper, the AR clerk, and the AP team — until it stops being a part-time job and starts being a problem. Reconciliations slip, vendor relationships strain, and tax prep becomes an emergency.

A local full-charge bookkeeper costs $60K+ and may not be available when you need them. Cheap offshore bookkeeping services produce work that has to be redone by your CPA — at a premium.

Zitro pairs you with finance-trained specialists fluent in your accounting platform, your industry’s chart of accounts, and the rhythm of your close. Your CPA reviews finished work, not hot messes.

Use cases

Three real engagements, by the numbers.

A $4M ARR SaaS company moved from 60-day-late books to a 5-day close after embedding a bookkeeper-plus-AR-clerk pod.

Multi-location restaurant

4-location bookkeeping

Independent restaurant group with 4 locations consolidated bookkeeping into a 3-person Zitro team. Monthly P&L delivered by day 7.

Mortgage originator

Loan processor surge

A 6-LO shop handled a 2x rate-drop refinance surge by adding 4 loan processors within 14 days. Demobilized cleanly at the end.

Security & financial controls

Built for businesses where money moves through the books.

Financial data is sensitive. We protect it with enterprise security posture and operational controls that keep payment authority where it belongs — with you.

SOC 2 in progress

Working toward SOC 2 Type II. Today: ISO 27001-aligned controls, encrypted endpoints, MFA, audited access, no local data storage.

Payment authority stays with you

Specialists prepare and queue payments; final authorization and ACH/wire release stays with your team. Built-in segregation of duties.

Bonded talent option

Insurance-backed bonding available for engagements where your operating procedure or insurance requires it.

Note — Zitro specialists provide bookkeeping and administrative finance support only — they are not CPAs and do not provide tax, audit, or attestation services. Your CPA remains responsible for final review, tax positions, and financial statement opinions.

Questions, answered

Finance & Bookkeeping FAQ.

Will specialists have payment authority?
No. Specialists prepare and queue payments in your AP platform; final authorization and release stays with your designated approvers. Segregation of duties is built into our standard SOPs.
How does this work with my CPA?
Most clients keep their CPA for tax filing, year-end review, and audit support. Zitro handles the day-to-day execution that gets your books to a clean state — your CPA reviews finished work instead of building it from scratch.
What accounting platforms do you support?
QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, Xero, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, FreshBooks, Wave, and Zoho Books. Plus the major AP/AR layers (Bill.com, Ramp, Stampli, Melio, Tipalti).
How is pricing structured?
Flat monthly rates per specialist. Pricing varies by transaction volume, platform, and pod composition. Final quote within one business day of discovery.
Can you handle multi-entity or consolidations?
Yes. Multi-entity bookkeeping and basic consolidations are common engagements. Complex eliminations and acquisition accounting are typically scoped with your CPA.
What about audits?
We support audits as preparers — pulling docs, building schedules, and answering auditor PBC requests. Your CPA or controller handles the actual auditor relationship and management representations.
